Education is an important process in developing quality and competitive human resources in the era of globalization. Through education, a person not only acquires knowledge, but also social skills, moral values, and positive attitudes in facing social life. This study aims to improve student activity and learning outcomes in Sociology subjects through the application of the Active Learning model with the Learning Starts with a Question technique. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 32 students of class XI IPS MA. Data collection techniques used observation, questionnaires, documentation, and learning outcome tests. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Active Learning model with the Learning Starts with a Question technique can improve student activity and learning outcomes. The average student activity increased from 62.5% in cycle I to 85.3% in cycle II. Meanwhile, the completeness of learning outcomes increased from 68.7% in cycle I to 90.6% in cycle II. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the application of the Active Learning model with the Learning Starts with a Question technique is effective in increasing student participation and academic achievement in Sociology learning at MA Tarbiyatut Tholabah.
